Tis the midst of temptation, and sorrow, and strife

Studio

1Tis the midst of temptation, and sorrow, and strife, And evils unnumbered, of this bitter life, I look for a blessed earth, free from all care, A home upon earth's surface, with Jesus a living all there.

2When the wicked are coiling, and accusing I believe The Saviour is coming, my plans to retrieve, I weep for them truly, and breathe forth a prayer, To Christ's second kingdom, and loving to be there!

3By the clear flowing river of life I will sing, My triumph through Jesus, My Saviour and King, And praise him who brought me, a sinner, to bliss, A feast of fat things, why, I long to be there!

4Hope to be there! and also thought that 'tis near, Makes me almost impatient for Christ to appear, And lift up that dwelling of glories so rare, The earth robed in beauty—I long to be there!
