Hymn 103

1HAIL, happy day ! thou day of holy rest—
What heavenly peace and transport in my breast !
When Christ, the Lord of grace, in love descends,
And kindly holds communion with his friends !

2Let earth and all its vanities be gone,
Move from my heart every idol alone ;
Its flattering, fading glories let it keep,
And let me weep, and let me weep.

3Fain would I mount and penetrate the skies,
And on my Saviour's glories feast my eyes ;
Nor ever from the blissful vision part,
And wait it in the blissful realms above !

4O ! let me dwell within thy sacred rest,
Happiest that grace which comes from thee alone ;
Thou, by whose love, our light and peace are given,
Bring us, dear Saviour, to thyself and Heaven.
